RAISON
specializes in the provision of services to collect, analyse and
disseminate information, particularly in the fields of environmental
and
education planning and management. Much of our work thus involves
processing information using such tools as databases, statistical
programmes, management information systems (MIS) and geographical
information systems (GIS). Mapping and GIS work is often accompanied by
the analysis of satellite images and aerial photographs.
RAISON also offers expertise in the use of graphics and design
programmes to compile maps, graphs and books so that information can be
presented in simple, interesting and attractive ways.
These technical skills are combined with a broad conceptual perspective stemming from experience gained in the human and social sciences. A better understanding of processes, issues and relationships between people and their environment can therefore be produced. Most of RAISON's work has been in Namibia, but consultancy services have also been provided in Bolivia, Malawi, Ghana, Lesotho, South Africa, Nigeria and France.
